The feeling I got from the show Friday was pretty amazin'. Hadn't had the feeling that I really owned an entire theatre since Columbus, OH last year. I like playing theatres. That's my environment. Theatres. There was a baby grand waiting on me at this little spot called The Triad off 72nd St. It was a little out of tune but honestly I can't really tell much. Don't pay much attention to it honestly - I just play. I think I like it a little off cuz I'm a little off my damn self.
The two nyc performers before me set the energy up so the crowd was loose goose by the time I touched the keys. The first song -- a old cover I've started opening the show with lately STAND BY ME had people singing along pretty immediately - which my ego is always grateful for. By the end I was sitting in the middle of the stage on a black piano bench preparing for my Bobby Mcferrin "Is-That-Guy-Is-Beating-His-Chest". One of my close friends in the crowd said the girl next to her was quoted saying, "That's just disgusting". Meaning disgustingly meaning good...I hope!
Just me, a red bull, and a thin black jacket I wore because all of my shirts got left on the plane thats far gone in the wind by now, god bless my favorite button down shirt. I want a baby grand everywhere I go now. Lord make it happen. amen.
