I remember a time about 8 years ago when one of my best friends, Tyrus, and I would go on a mad dash to the music store to grab whatever came out that day. Ahhhhh...those were the good ol' days. Here we are 8 years later and there are no more music stores to actually walk into. Maybe your complete entertainment centers like (my former employer) Hastings, but no strictly music stores. It's somewhat frustrating because personally, I enjoy struggling to unwrap the CD, sitting in my car until I've glanced through the liner notes and I've done our infamous one verse, one chorus run of each song. It's even the more frustrating now to go to Walmart or Target just to see the limited selection of music that's available. I'm not hating on iTunes or whatever and digital booklets and all, it's just not my thing. I guess I'm still a little stubborn in my "old-schoolfulness". I won't bore you with my frustration for the imbalance of music that is released (note that I'm not fussing because of the lack of instrumentation and REAL soul and REAL ability--just the fact that there should be a better balance.) I mean, we have trendsetters like Kanye, T. Pain, etc. and then we have all of the people who merely follow whatever the trends may be. Anyway, don't let me start. If anything, this imbalance has caused me to delve further into the past when it comes to buying music and it has caused me to go in some other directions--trying artists of different genres out of desperation. Combining the lack of places to actually search for music with the obvious lack of the type of music that I love, the phrase "It's New Music Tuesday!!!" is now followed with a very strong, "So what."
"Hancock" it is.
