The benefit concert will not only raise money for the Thomas family, but will also be used to educate people on the present danger of contracting HIV/AIDS and the fact that this disease is still an issue. Too many people rely on the "common knowledge" that HIV/AIDS is limited to those of a certain social class or sexual preference but this is not the case. This is a Human disease. Stephen and Cristy have been together for sixteen years with no signs of the disease present until the last few years. As a happily married heterosexual couple, their unique situation brings even more awareness that HIV/AIDS crosses all boundaries.
Come to the benefit, help out the cause and educate yourself on this horrible disease. There will be instructive information distributed about the family, their situation and the necessary precautions to reduce the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.
