Um, where do I begin...
Today after school I was very excited to make my way to the nearest theater to see High School Musical 3 (HSM3), I got out of class @ 230, went to the barber shop,
As I entered the lobby I ran into a friend, the first thing she says is "you look like the type of person to bring a book to the movies *sic"
I'm like "WHATEVER...."
Then she further aggravates me and asks "what, u here to see? Saw V?"
I respond "No! HSM3"
She looks at me very awkwardly and says "are you alone?"
"Yes" I reply
"I wouldn't tell anyone that" she replies...
Ugh, the nerve of her. I didn't show my distaste for our exchange on my face, but I was really peeved that she felt her opinion mattered.
So I pay my $6.50, get my ticket and walk to the concession stand. MEDIUM POPCORN AND MEDIUM SODA... $11.50. WHAM! Wtf? When did movie food become more expensive than Applebees? I was not pleased. And since when does the movie theater not offer a small combo.
When I walk in the theater, #13 to be exact. I notice one thing immediately. I'm the only Black person there, I'm the only person in my 20s, and I'm the only person alone. The audience was filled to the brim with elementary school kids and their parents. I shouldn't have been surprised, it is DISNEY©.
I must admit, I was anticipating this movie. I have seen the first 2, and I am in the closet about my fanhood. Well, I should say... was in the closet. ***NEWSFLASH*** I <3HSM : translation = I Love HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL See I have even adapted to the high school short hand.
If you were a fan of Saved By The Bell, Beverly Hills 90210, Boy Meets World, etc... and you like musicals Grease, The Sound Of Music, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, The Wiz, etc... then do yourself a favor, get off your high horse and go see the movie. You can even watch the bootleg, it don't matter, but I recommend that you peep it. Just think of the Disney© Movies that you've watched in the past, they know what they are doing, their record speaks for itself.
The themes haven't changed, Love, friendship, Growing Up, all that stuff is touched on in the movie. I you wanna be uplifted and made to smile from a movie experience, then this is the movie for you.
When it was all said and done, the kids in the row beside me were up dancing and jumping up and down, and I could've been doing the same thing if I wasn't so self conscience. I loved the movie, I'd go see it again.
Now please don't misunderstand my pov, its not an Oscar worthy, mind blowing performance, but the choreography, staging and music make it all worth the price of admission. Not to mention Vanessa Hudgens is in the movie, and she is smoking hott.... (she's only 20, sorry for the explicit pictures, but I'm tryin to make you feel me...)

I'm done. Holla @ ya'll later!
