This is weekend 2 (of 3) of the Coffee House Tour for me, and what a whirlwind it has been. I arrived in Nashville from Lexington like 8 a.m. on Friday morning, and I immediately went back to sleep while Darnell did “business stuff” on the Internet. So we loaded "Blue" and got ready to hit the road around 1p.m. to head for St. Louis. We stopped to buy a mic from the music store (more on that later), and we hit the road.
Keep in mind, we are 2 highly intelligent brothers, but we completely misread the directions. The fault has not been decided yet, but I believe that MapQuest is at fault… So, three hours later we are passing through Louisville and we realize that we should have stayed on 24 back in TN, so we take 64 through IN, IL, and into MO. When we realized we misread the directions, it was 4pm Central time so we had to put the pedal to the medal to make it to STL on time. 3 or so hours later we arrived @ the Starbucks. There were people in starbucks waiting when we arrived, and they started applauding when Darnell was sound checking...lol

Needless to say the anticipation from the crowd was welcomed and surprising. Darnell explained his tardiness, and the crowd laughed it off, ready for him to begin. People were singing along, begging for encores, and offering to give tips. I hadn’t seen a standing ovation for Darnell ever, so I was shocked. We kicked it with some of the peeps from the show (Mia and her cousin), had Pizza, and went to the Bowling Alley. But eventually decided that the smoke and the wait weren’t worth our time. We were ready for bed, so that’s what we did.
The next morning we realized that Blue had a slow tire leak, so Darnell decides that we should change the tire and ride to Nashville on a DONUT!! NOPE!!! Not on Mia’s watch. She knew someone who could get us in and patch the tire at a short notice; he even did it for free… (PRAISE BREAK, Cue Praise Music..don-don-don-don!)

We leave for Cashville (following the directions correctly) and arrived around 6:30pm. We set up, and then the listeners begin to flow in. The Starbucks was pretty big, and it got crowded. One special lady got the fan of the week award. Julie, she drove to Nashville from Columbus, OH. C O L U M B U S… needless to say she was front row center, and from what I gather she enjoyed the show tremendously. All of Darnell’s artist friends came out to support. (Jason Eskridge, Damien Horne, TheLight, Brandi Sellerz/Jon Jackson, and others ..) The set was a little longer than the ones from previous nights, I guess he had to show his HOME some extra love. He ended with an oldie but goodie “Free” and he got some crowd participation.
Immediately following the show, we and many of the people from the show went to Mafiozos Italian, and had dinner. After pizza, we told jokes (good & not so good) and played games, at the restaurant. Maybe we will post the footage from the Joke session in the near future, might have to edit it a little, but when you see the post VAGABOND DAY, Don’t Miss It.
Welp folks, I think that’s all I can muster. It was a great weekend, Murfreesboro, Chat-Town and ATL be on the lookout, we are headed there this weekend. Thanks to all the people that came out, see the rest of ya’ll soon…
PEACE,
Al
